Abstract:

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: One of the short-term strategies to manage the traffic and make a balance between travel supply and demand for the near future is the short-term prediction of traffic parameters and informing the passengers. Therefore passengers are more likely to avoid traveling during traffic peak hours. In this study, hourly average traffic speed and hourly traffic volume as two traffic parameters that indicate traffic state are predicted for Karaj-Chaloos road in Iran. METHODS: Since traffic data have large volume, machine learning-based models have more suitable performance than traditional models. However, it is not merely possible to discover the cause and effect relationships and the importance of features. In this study, after using the artificial neural network and K-nearest neighbor models to predict traffic parameters, to analyze the sensitivity of the results, the importance of used features is investigated. Also, the effect of passing the time over the accuracy of predictions has been examined. FINDINGS: According to the results, the highest accuracy of predicting hourly traffic volume and hourly average traffic speed is achieved by the K-nearest neighbor that is equal to 61% and 91%, respectively. CONCLUSION: Compared to the historical average as a benchmark model, a significant improvement in the accuracy of predictions has been obtained by the artificial neural network and K-nearest neighbor models.

Abstract:

The high number of traffic accidents in the country shows that there are many problems in the country's traffic management. However, many people are willing to cooperate and participate in solving traffic problems, so it was necessary to conduct a study that shows the acceptance of traffic experts in attracting people's participation in traffic management. In this study, by identifying the methods used in other countries to attract public participation, a survey was designed to examine the opinion of 44 traffic police officers on the possibility of attracting public participation for law enforcing the violating drivers and making the roads more safer. The results of this study showed that traffic police officers generally agree with public participation in enforcing the law of violating drivers, although they consider it necessary to equip people with equipment to document violations. Police officers also agree with public participation in safe making the roads. Due to the agreement of traffic police officers with the participation of the public, traffic-related institutions can attract and organize volunteers and reliable people to participate in traffic management. These individuals must be equipped with equipment to document violations to participate in law enforcement of violating drivers.

Abstract:

Background and purpose: Nowadays, in a global approach, traffic managers with a problem-oriented perspective have turned to the use of interdisciplinary. they use collaborative, round-trip, reflective and creative features. Therefore, the main goal of this research is to study the strategic principles of interdisciplinary management in traffic.Method: This research was applied in terms of purpose, from the point of view of the combined nature with the exploratory approach. The participants in the qualitative part were the experts of the police faculty of traffic sciences and traffic techniques and the statistical community in the quantitative part were high accident experts and transportation and traffic experts of Tehran municipality. Sampling in the qualitative part by a purposeful method based on criteria and in the quantitative part by a stratified random method in proportion to the sample size, the number of 136 people was equal to the Morgan table. To analyze the collected data in the qualitative part of the research, two-level theme analysis was used using MAXQDA2022 software, and in the quantitative part, confirmatory factor analysis was used, and Smart PLS software was used to validate the obtained model.Findings: with the value of T-statistics 38/643, legal-executive infrastructures with the value of T-statistics 37/959, communication With industry with the value of 32.521 T statistics and evaluation management with the value of 7.571 T statistics, the greatest impact was related to the dimension of collaborative management and the least impact was related to the dimension of evaluation management. In addition, the factor loadings of all dimensions are more than 0.5, which are significant at the 0.95 level. Results: The prerequisite for interdisciplinary traffic management is participation, evaluation, communication and multidimensional attitude, which needs to be provided with its legal, executive and scientific foundations and infrastructures. Also, considering the close and continuous connection between the dimensions of traffic management, moving towards interdisciplinary management by creating a leading organization as the guardian of the country's traffic in this area is not only a need but a necessity.

Abstract:

The paper discusses the current state of research concerning railway network timetabling and traffic management. Timetable effectiveness is governed by frequency, regularity, accurate running, recovery and layover times, as well as minimal headway, buffer times and waiting times. Analytic (queuing) models and stochastic microsimulation are predominantly used for estimation of waiting times and capacity consumption anlong corridors and in stations, while combinatorial models and stability analysis are suitable for network timetable optimisation. Efficient traffic management can be achieved by real-time monitoring, fusion, analysis and rescheduling of railway traffic in case of disturbances. Real-time simulation, optimisation and impact evaluation of dispatching measures can improve the effectiveness of rescheduling and traffic management. The display of dynamic signal and track occupancy data in driver cabins, as Route Lint developed by ProRail, can support anticipative actions of the driver in order to reduce knock-on delays and increase throughput.

Abstract:

One of the obvious reasons for most disorders in network service provisioning is network path congestion. Congestion avoidance in today's networks is too costly and sometimes impossible. With the introduction of SDN, centralizing the equipment's control plane has become possible. This paper presents an enhanced method named ESV-DBRA to avoid congestion in multi-tenant SDN networks. At first, ESV-DBRA monitors the traffic load and delay of all network paths for each tenant individually. Then, by merging the parameters obtained from the monitoring, the Service Level Agreements (SLA), and a novel proposed cost function, it calculates the cost of the network paths per tenant. As a result, traffic for each tenant is routed through the path/paths at the lowest possible cost from the tenant's perspective. Next, the bandwidth quotas will be calculated and assigned to the tenants over their optimal routes. Afterward, whenever congestion is likely to occur in a path, ESV-DBRA automatically changes the route or bandwidth of the tenants' traffic related to this path to avoid congestion. Related algorithms are also proposed.Eventually, simulations show that the proposed method effectively increases bandwidth utilization by 10.76%.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Due to the growth in the number of vehicles, in Iran we face heavier traffic day by day. The offered solutions by various organs have been just based on providing the objectives of the relevant organization; however they have not had any desirable results. The present research aims at offering a comprehensive model comprised of factors affecting traffic so that it could identify them and take some measures toward establishment of convergence and unity in making traffic-related decisions.Method: The present research is a descriptive-survey, based on which traffic indices and constituents are identified, and after development of the primary model through using real data.Findings: Factors contributing to traffic are management of urban trips, parking management, management of public fleet and transportation network, management of traffic education, management of urbanism, management of emergencies, management of traffic network, management of standardization, installation and maintenance of traffic services, management of mechanized traffic, management of traffic engineering, management of research and development. Conclusion: Before testing the reasons and their relationship by Lizrel constituents, the applied constituents in the conceptual model were considered through using analysis factors, which confirmed the existence of eleven constituents resulted from the research variables. The amounts of the two columns “affinity level of variables” and “correlation of variables with the relevant constituent” indicated that the variables were not enough processed, and there is a desirable correlation between every variable and the relevant constituent.
